Just as Microsoft has earned riches by producing the default desktop operating system, so has Intel reaped handsome rewards by producing the most popular CPU to run Windows. Today, some 85 percent of all computers are powered by Intel technology, and the company has plowed millions of dollars into an ambitious corporate "branding" campaign to keep it that way.
