There is a guy I know, call him Fred Stamen, who collects fountain pens. To expand his considerable collection, Stamen purchases fountain pens wherever he can find them. He has frequented thrift stores and church sales, stopped at garage sales, marched down the aisles of flea markets, and attended fountain pen shows where other collectors go to trade.

He has covered and consulted for both startups and the major corporations that make up the Silicon Valley. A native of Los Angeles and a self-confessed gadget freak, he lives with his wife Susan in Marin County, north of San Francisco.
